Did you know that because you were made in God's image, he has blessed you and made you to rule over the fish, birds, livestock, wild animals, and over all creatures that move along the ground? That's incredible! Not my words, check it out in Genesis 1:26. So what he's saying is, that's why your dog or cat obey you... (well, with my cat that's a struggle, he thinks he rules) but how about animal trainers. Mind blowing! Right... I've never thought about this, ever... And it's amazing! Because we are made in God's image, there are so many benefits that we do not utilize. It's like an insurance policy, we know it's there but never take advantage of the perks they offer. Like the discount to the gym, or one free consultation to a nutritionist, maybe $25 in pharmaceutical products. Well, God's benefits are a lot better. Check out the story of Daniel in Daniel chapter 6. Daniel was a praying man; he would pray three times a day. He worked as an administrator for King Darius, who respected and favored Daniel. Now there were some people up top, that weren't so fond that the King had such great respect and favor for Daniel. You know the saying, it's lonely at the top... So, they decided to plot against him. They played on the King's pride and had him make a decree for the people to worship only him for 30 days. Daniel when he heard this monstrosity, prayed as he always did, asking God for help. He refused to worship anyone other than his God. When these top officials had seen, he was still praying to his God and ignoring the decree the King had put into place, they ratted him out. It put the King in a position where he had no choice but to enforce the decree, if he didn't it would have made him look weak. So, King Darius threw Daniel into the lion’s den. He told Daniel," May your God whom you serve continually rescue you" then the den was sealed up. It was SIONARA for Daniel... or so you would think. King Darius knew Daniel was faithful, and blameless but had no option. He didn't sleep or eat all night. When morning arrived, he went and called into the den, "Has your God rescued you from the lions." Daniel answered, "My God sent his angel to shut the mouths of the lions." Now tell me that's not a benefit for serving God. He probably slept peacefully maybe even the best sleep he'd ever had, knowing by faith, God had his back. Amazing! Sometimes we must put things into perspective to realize serving God is not a hassle, or boring, but a joy, a comfort to know he's given us hope in all circumstances.
